Along with a current passport valid for at least 6 months after your departure date to Hobart, the Australian government requires a visa from all visitors of every nation (other than New Zealand passport holders who will normally be granted a Special Category visa on arrival, provided they meet health and character requirements) to be issued before you arrive.

There are many visa options available and the appropriate visa option will depend, amongst other things, on your purpose for visiting Australia. Please refer to the Business Fact Sheet for guidance on the visa options and the Visa Application Requirements Fact Sheet for information on visa application requirements.

If you require an invitation letter, please email ipics2016@acecrc.org.au. Please note that letters of invitation are only issued to conference participants who have registered for the conference and have paid their registration fees in full.

You should apply for your visa well advance of your intended date of travel to Australia. All visitors should apply for a visa at least two months prior to their intended date of departure, and four months prior for people with character or health concerns.

Please note that Australia’s strict quarantine applies to importing plants, animals, or their products, including food. Upon entry visitors will be asked to declare these (and other items), and sniffer dogs are used to check all incoming luggage. Camping, hiking and fishing gear will be checked to ensure they are clean. Please check with the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service, and declare to them if you are unsure.
